One of Hollywood’s most beloved couples has been quietly raising two kids far from the glare of the spotlight — and those kids are growing up fast.
Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem first crossed paths on the set of Jamón, Jamón back in 1992. The chemistry was immediate, but life took them in separate directions. It wasn’t until 2008 that they reconnected and romance finally took hold. By 2010, they made their first official public appearance as a couple, confirming what many had already suspected.

Their son Leo arrived in 2011, becoming their firstborn. Daughter Luna followed two years later. Penélope described that chapter of her life as one of pure joy — tremendously happy and filled with excitement.
Now, more than 14 years into their marriage, the two remain as close as ever. And their children? They’ve inherited the best of both parents. The resemblance is striking.

What’s particularly interesting about how Cruz and Bardem are raising Leo and Luna is their very deliberate choice to keep smartphones and social media completely out of the picture. Unlike most of their peers, the teens have no social media presence at all. Their parents are firm on this — genuinely concerned about what constant connectivity does to a developing mind.

Penélope put it plainly: young people are especially vulnerable to manipulation, and a brain that’s still forming pays a heavy price when exposed to the pressures of the internet. In her view, it’s nothing short of a cruel experiment being conducted on an entire generation of children and teenagers.
Two Oscar winners. Two kids being raised with intention and care. That’s the Cruz-Bardem household — and it looks like it’s working. 🧡
